I came to the United States from Germany at a young age. From the start I was inspired by the energy of the people I met in the US, and the pride with which they displayed their diverse backgrounds while being unified in their drive to be somebody. This spirit also took a hold of me, and the desire grew to start something of my own.
Style and the way people dress has always been a big passion of mine. My desire to create and not just wear clothes became apparent to me when taking a garment construction class in college. Then through a lucky connection, I got my introduction to the world of denim craftsmanship while working for a renowned German jeansmaker. After becoming fascinated with the level of craftsmanship and the meticulous set up of vintage machines that is required to make jeans of the highest quality, I knew I had to start acquiring my own ensemble of vintage sewing machines. This led me to work for an industrial sewing machine dealership, which not only allowed me to gain deep insight into the mechanical side of sewing machines, but connected me with a lot of small businesses that are working on bringing Made in the USA back to its former glory. That's when I knew I wanted to be a part of this movement, and there was no better way to start, than with the quintessential American Garment- Jeans, Made in USA.
For me, jeans are the garment that encapsulates the American Spirit in its purest form. They stand for the drive of the people to work hard in achieving their goals, and wear something that not only makes them feel protected, but also gives them a canvas that tells the story of their life without having to say a word.
